What is Lean Six Sigma?
Lean Six Sigma is a new business culture with focus on reducing waste, delays, defects and variation, using DMAIC methodology and Lean tools to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs in the bottom line. It can be applied in service-based, transactional, production-based, and healthcare environments; and is focused on achieving significant business results.

What Is DMAIC?
It is a Six Sigma methodology that has 5 phases:
- Define the project objective and customer requirements.
- Measure the key variables in the process to determine their current performance.
- Analyze and determine the root cause(s) of the variation.
- Improve the process by eliminating root causes.
- Control future process performance.
What Is DFSS?
DFSS stands for Design For Six Sigma. The methodology for DFSS has 5 phases:
- Define the project objective and customer CTQs.
- Measure and determine customer needs and specifications.
- Analyze the process (and or product) options to meet CTQs.
- Design the process (and or product) to meet the CTQs.
- Verify if the design meets CTQs.
What is a Black Belt?
Black Belt is the person with the ability and knowledge to successfully lead a team through a Lean Six Sigma project using DMAIC methodology.
What is a Green Belt?
Green Belt is a person with the ability and knowledge to participate in a Black Belt Team and/or to lead a team through a Lean Six Sigma project using DMAIC methodology.
What is a Yellow Belt?
Yellow Belt is a person with the ability and knowledge to participate in a Black Belt/Green Belt Team and his/her main task is measurement.
What is a White Belt?
White Belt is a person with the basic understanding and knowledge in Lean Six Sigma and the DMAIC methodology.
What is a Champion/Sponsor?
Champion/Sponsor is a person within the organization with authority and knowledge to assign and direct Lean Six Sigma projects to Black Belt and Green Belts.
